Okay, so, for Super Sentai (Power Rangers' parent show from Japan) 35th anniversary, they did Gokaiger (the pirate-themed Rangers). The short of it is, every Ranger in the past 34 years has a key that corresponds to them. If you plug that key into your morpher (the Gokaiger morpher was this telephone-thing named a Mobirates), then you became *that* Ranger, with all of that Ranger's weapons and powers and such (not giant robots, just the weapons). There was about 199 Rangers (which means 199 keys). They did that so the Red Ranger from the series after Gokaiger was the 200th Ranger in the franchise (although the numbers don't quite add up properly, but Rule of Cool).
So, if you were to take your Mobirates (assuming you have one), and plug one of those MMPR/ZyuRanger keys into it, you would then morph into that particular Ranger.
That was the gimmick for the season. During fights, the Gokaigers would summon their keys and bounce between Ranger-forms (using an appropriate Ranger form to deal with whatever situation they were confronted with). For instance, in the "Space Sheriff" movie, they summoned six Pink Ranger keys, and the whole team became Pink Rangers with guns and bows and ranged weapons. Then they subbed to six White Rangers (that all used special martial arts attacks). Then they bounced to six Red Rangers, all with big swords.
It was a wonderful way of showcasing the past 35 years, while keeping the focus on the six Gokai Rangers. I normally don't watch Sentai, but I found "Gokaiger" compelling and entertaining and absolutely wonderful.
Part of the toyline was, obviously, they released two editions of the Mobirates, and then you could collect all the keys. There were hundreds of the little bastards (and some of them were very expensive, and very rare). I ended up with about 144 of them. But the ZyuRanger (aka, the MMPR) keys were the full set that I desperately wanted, and I was happy to get them.
(if you check out my "Toys" album on my FB page, you'll see all my various keys and Mobirates morphers)I don't know if you've been watching "Megaforce", but the dream-sequence in the first episode, of all those Rangers running towards the oncoming army? That was the Legend War. That was how "Gokaiger" started, but we got a watered-down, edited version (because there's 15 teams that come before ZyuRanger, so therefore, they don't have American PR equivalents).

As a season finale, this was a pretty unremarkable episode (and honestly, "Doomsday" functions much better, in terms of being dramatic and loud). But a few awesome things happen here. Zac gets to wear the Dragon Shield and solo the oyster monster. Zac gets a kiss from Angela (I think about his third. Damn, man). And the zord battle! The Megazord confronts Oysteriser underwater, and they throw down, until the Dragonzord wanders over to help. The Dragonzord then strikes the Oysteriser clean out of the ocean back up onto dry land, before following the monster up onto the beach. We never really focused much on the Dragonzord underwater, so for that, this episode was great. I love it when the zords get to fight underwater, it happens so rarely.

Then again, I just listened to SFdebris review of the movie.
